Your Hometown Fly Shop

We are a true full service fly shop. Les Shannon established Shannon's Fly & Tackle in 1973 and it was continued on into the second generation of ownership by Jim Holland, in 2004. Today, Abraham + Lindsey Beates carry on their legacy by offering our clients the highest quality in tackle and fly tying materials, paired with decades of expertise the shop employees and fishing guides provide.

In 2023, the shop re-opened after Shannon's closed following Jim's passing, rebranding as South Branch Outfitters, paying homage to our home waters, the South Branch of the Raritan River, which is a matter of yards outside our shop's doors.

We welcome all anglers young and old, novice and seasoned, with services that includes guided fly fishing + instruction, expert tackle and fly selection advice, and special educational events. Our winter fly tying classes appeal to both the beginner and the expert. We were the nation's first Gold Level Endorsed Business by Trout Unlimited and we've been recognized by the State of New Jersey, local watershed associations and the EPA for our strong commitment to conservation of cold water resources and the promotion of the sport of fly fishing.
