Week of September 14th: Slow and low, that is the tempo

This week’s report promises to be short - we need rain.  This week’s forecast, which previously claimed several days of rain midweek has changed and now we may wait until the 25th.  Not good at all.

The temps are where we need them to be for catch and release fishing and bugs can be found along with accompanying rising fish.  The space where fish reside is dwindling and pushing life into the deeper pools and runs. I spent some time on the South Branch and Musky recently, and even had a quick sojourn over to PA and the story remains the same. We need a long, soaking, sustained period of rain.

In the spirit of positivity and keeping busy, it is time to hit the tying bench, or chair, and tie and wait and wait for rain.

Stop by the shop for your materials and check out our selection of salmon and steelhead flies. We are also increasing our saltwater fly inventory, including deceivers, crab, and squid patterns.  These last two are pretty cute, frankly.

I have nothing else to report, unfortunately, so I’ll keep my promise and keep this short.

See you out there.
